Department of Psychology

PSYC 1001 Open Access will introduce you to the world of psychology. We will work “bottom-up” starting with an historical context and then a survey of psychological research methods. Next we will tackle the brain and nervous system followed by the building blocks of sensation, perception, learning, memory, consciousness, language and thought.

This is a totally online course with no physical classroom or required meeting times! It is Open Access which means that you do not need to register at Carleton or any university to take the course nor do you need to pay tuition. Although you will not be able to earn a university credit, if you complete the course successfully you will earn a Certificate of Readiness that will demonstrate your level of mastery of the material. It is self-paced which means that you have to motivate yourself to view the lecture video Modules, and test yourself with the quizzes.

After you complete the Chapter 2 material, you can transfer to the Flex Term version of the course, pay the applicable tuition fees, and earn a Carleton University credit for the course (provided you pass of course!)
