  1. Why do you think that children's participation rights matter?
Children's participation rights are important because children are not as innocent and passive as society has made them out to be. They have their own, individual experiences - and it's not right to have adults speak on their behalf, as Pearson noted in her video - [adults] often forget what it's like to be a child, even though we have all been through that phase.  More importantly, this brings up the point that children's lives and upbringing have drastically changed and evolved; with technological advances and the changes in societial values, some of the issues that children are facing today did not exist when we were children, hence they should have a say in their own rights.

  1. How does the inclusion of children's participation in the UNCRC implicate States Parties that have ratified the treaty?

The inclusion of children's participation in the UNCRC holds the State responsible for their children.

  1. What do children's participation rights have to do with citizenship and democratic processes that are inclusive and empowering?
Allowing children's participation within citizenship and democratic processes further gives children a voice and a chance to speak out for themselves. We are giving them more of a voice and opportunity to be in more control of their lives.
