A Canada Fit for Children 2004 edition was developed by senator Landon Pearson who addressed for the first time the protection, promotion and fulfilment of the rights of the children. Although, the 2015 edition argues that the A Canada Fit for Children 2004 was more of an aspirational effort than an effective one because the high poverty rates affecting children that were addressed in 2004, still remain unsolved today. A Canada Fit for Children 2015 also argues that the progress of 2004 has stalled because only a majority of children are better off, which is not good enough when evaluating the problem through a children's rights perspective. Furthermore, the 2015 issues states that the context in which Canadian children grow up in today is worth revisiting because the last time it was visited and described was in 2004, therefore the context may have changed.
