Many of the challenges with article 12 are that adults just do not want to listen to the voice of children and youth because they do not think they are old enough to really understand what’s going on. One way this model combats that is that it gives these children and youth a safe space to speak and be heard by adults who are interested. Thus passing along their opinions and points of views to those who can help make a difference. I think some gaps are that there is no way to really ensure that the adults attending are going to fully take the children’s opinions into consideration due to unconscious biases that so many adults have cemented in their being. I am not really sure how the model can be modified to address this gap due to the fact that the model itself modifies the problem. By giving these children and youth a chance to speak and having these adults listen and engage with the youth I think the model in itself is the tool needed to break down these biases.
