Children make up a huge portion of society and thus the world will be affected by each child's actions and decisions. It is therefore important that children grow up in a safe and secure world in which they can explore their world and imaginations. Families and communities can help in doing this by nurturing and supporting children while also giving them a voice that will be heard and listened to. They are individuals in society who can express their own ideas and opinions about what is right and wrong for them and assist in making decisions that involve children and protecting them from physical and emotional harm. I was shocked when reading this article to see that there is no children's commissioner who can help ensure that children's rights are upheld and followed. Children need to be heard and therefore the government needs to listen, and adhere to the rights of children.
