The 1959 Declaration seems to have a larger focus on protection and is slightly more broad in scope. What I find the UNCRC does quite well is denote some of the larger and more specific issues under concern and note the challenges that children currently face. Instead of addressing the broader domain, the UNCRC addresses the complexities and challenges of contemporary childhood and does an adequate job at addressing social context. These documents are similar in their pursuit of minimizing any harm experienced by children at any period within their childhood. What I like about the UNCRC is its address to participation and the acknowledgement of voice.
