Module 4: children being seen as equals to adults

The idea that children have just as many rights as adults can be seen as a myth. For example, children in sweat shops are often exploited by having to work jobs that require their small hands. They can be seen as instruments, not real beings. Used only for their small bodies, as tools, rather than basing their worth on their knowledge and the ideas they can add to our world. Where adults might feel confident enough in their knowledge of their rights, children may not even know they have such rights. In theory, children are supposed to be treated as equal to adults, but in many cases they are exploited by adults because of things they have not yet learned or had the opportunity to learn. We, as adults, should recognize the full potential children can have if we allow them to.
