Children not yet human?

Children hold the same rights as adults, for the exception of voting. Yet, children are not viewed as equal to adults. There still exists the belief that children are not yet adults. Landon Pearson described the term dehumanize to imply that children should be seen as full members of society and not partially human. There are many examples where children are seen as not fully human. Typically the term fully human entails someone with knowledge, skills and productive in society. With this in mind, children can be seen as not fully human, because they are acquiring knowledge, developing skills and learning to contribute in society. Article 13 and 14 of the CRC entails children to the right to freedom of expression, thought, conscience and impart information. With this right there should be a connection between children having a voice, and children being seen as adults. Even though children may not have fully developed thoughts or ideas, their voices still matter. Many adults dismiss what children say simply because children are not fully mentally or physically developed.
