Child Exploitation as a Continuum

In my opinion, thinking about exploitation on a continuum expands our understanding of this concept through the way in which it encourages a more in depth analysis into the different forms of exploitation as well as the severity of the implications. This continuum is not to downplay certain types of exploitation (saying one type is worse than the other) but instead to broaden our understanding of child exploitation and the different situations where it occurs. By taking into consideration the severity of the implications for the children who have been exploited, there is more to be taken into consideration for policy and law makers when determining the ramifications for people who exploit children. Therefore, I feel that it is crucial to involve children who have been exploited to be a part of the process of amending, developing, and creating policies and procedures surrounding child exploitation- as stated by Landon Pearson.
